I’ve been doing much more printing for other designers lately than my own work, and a thought occurred to me: Every time I feed a sheet of paper into my press, I feel like I am risking my hands just for the beauty of their printed designs. It makes me feel more attached to each piece I print. In the end I spend so much time looking at each designer’s piece that I feel like they are my own as well. I’m so grateful and honored that many designers entrust their work to me. It’s so fun to “collaborate” in this way. (Note: I would encourage other printers to not attempt to engage in conversation while printing on a platen press. It’s so easily to get distracted and for something like this to happen.)
