(Just a snapshot of a little sewing project I’ve started.) These past few weeks I’ve been getting heavy into strategic planning for the National Stationery Show. My mind has been practically running since I officially decided to do the show in September. I’ve made lists and more lists and have done tons of research. (Entering the world of retail takes lots of education.) The best thing I’ve done is taken part in Tradeshow Bootcamp. This is a set of workshops put on by Katie Hunt of Kelp Designs. One piece of advice that I heard over and over again was the importance of a consistent brand. I’m pretty sure it was mentioned during each workshop. I think the reason why it’s taken me so long to launch a letterpress line is that I want it to be done right. I want every detail (packaging, branding etc.) to be carefully thought out. As a designer, our personal style sometimes changes and grows, but I’m reminded that (for now) the Moglea brand needs to be consistent and well-executed.
